Please find below a breakdown of duties and responsibilities for each staff member in the Office of Faculty Records and Appointments:

Derreck Brown (Director)
In addition to oversight for all aspects of the Office of Faculty Records and Appointments, the Director is responsible for:

  1. Processes SFS Qatar Faculty Appointments.
  2. Processes Chair Appointments.
  3. Processes Faculty Retirements. 
  4. Processes Endowed Professorships. 
  5. OPIR Yearly Data Scrubbing Project (w/Stephen Barbour).
  6. Annual Merit Increase and Data Upload Project.
  7. Maintenance and publication of OFRA's Standard Operating Procedure Guide.
  8. Generates End of the Academic Year Reports for Office of the Provost (w/Lesley Sebastian). 
  9. Special Assistant to the Provost.

Stephen Barbour (Assistant Director, Academic Data Processing)
Processes new PART-TIME non-ordinary (non tenure-track) faculty appointments and reappointments, as well as new Academic and Administrative Professionals (AAPs) and Main Campus Postdoctoral Fellows.

  1. Fields questions regarding Genesys coding and payroll adjustments for non-ordinary faculty and AAPs.
  2. Handles employment verifications and unemployment claims.
  3. Answers I-9 questions.
  4. End of the month Genesys report distribution.
  5. Facrec-l (Listproc) Maintenance.
  6. Department Contact List Maintenance.
  7. Maintenance of all Auxiliary Faculty Records and appointment processing databases.
  8. Schedule New Faculty Benefits Orientation and New Employee Orientation for AAPs.
  9. OFRA Website Maintenance.
  10. Non-Employee Affiliated Appointments (Group 30).

Bert DeCoquereaumont (Senior Payroll Analyst)
In addition to responsibilities with the Main Campus Finance Office:

  1. Processes Genesys status changes (reappointments and terminations).
  2. Processes lump sum payments and special checks.
  3. Runs monthly batch reports for Genesys to ensure timely and correct disbursement of paychecks.
  4. Temporary gross.
  5. Fields questions regarding payroll adjustments.

Aneta Lauro (Administrative Coordinator)
Provides administrative, operational and related support directly to the Director, and indirectly to both Assistant Directors.

  1. Filing and maintenance of all Main Campus faculty records.  Weekly/monthly filing of appointment and transactional forms.
  2. Coordinate departmental communications.  First point of contact for visitors and callers, comprising departmental administrators, faculty, and senior level faculty.
  3. Main point of contact for audit requests regarding faculty and AAP files.  Answers questions regarding OFRA's compliance with Georgetown University's document retention policy.
  4. Coordinates daily operational functions to index and digitize faculty records for secure online access of faculty documents.
  5. Responsible for maintaining Professor Emeritus records. Maintenance of Professor Emeritus database.
  6. Schedules and coordinates OFRA special events (presentations, inter and intra-office events).

Lesley Sebastian (Assistant Director, Academic Appointment Processing)
Processes new Ordinary (tenure-track and lateral hires) and non-Ordinary faculty appointments and faculty leave requests.

  1. Faculty leaves of absence (sabbaticals, research leaves, medical leaves, New Parent Leave, matching research awards, etc.).  AAP maternity and/or disability leave. 
  2. Fields questions regarding Rank & Tenure dossier preparation.
  3. Faculty Annual Reports.
  4. Faculty and AAP Vicennial Awards.
  5. Annual Triple Deduction Project.
  6. Junior Faculty Reviews. 
  7. Updates U-Grad Bulletin and Blue and Gray new faculty data.
  8. Fields general questions regarding probationary period and sabbatical eligibility.
  9. Provides official lists for Ordinary and non-Ordinary New Faculty Orientation.
