Penner Family Experiences Award

PENNER FAMILY EXPERIENCES FUNDING OPPORTUNITY

AY2026-2027

Co-curricular experiences are a cornerstone of a Georgetown education. Hoyas participate in experiential learning opportunities in various forms, including fellowships, independent and mentored research, study abroad, laboratory research, field work, community-engaged programs, social action, advocacy, or internships.

The costs of pursuing experiential learning opportunities outside of the classroom, credit-bearing context (except for study abroad) may present a financial barrier for some Georgetown students. Participation in an experiential learning opportunity may require a student to be responsible for costs such as: housing, transportation, travel, food, professional attire, and work/research-related supplies, without financial compensation for those expenses. A student may also bear the costs of lost earnings and saving while pursuing an unpaid experiential learning opportunity.

Through the Penner Family Experiences Fund, undergraduate students can apply for financial support for the Fall 2026, Spring 2027, or Summer 2027 terms to assist with alleviating some of the financial burden of participating in an experiential learning opportunity while enhancing their Georgetown experience. A maximum Summer award is $4,000, with an average award of $2,000. A maximum Fall or Spring award is $1,500 with an average Fall or Spring of $1,000.
