Provost’s Awards for Outstanding Research Achievement

The Provost’s Research Awards recognize faculty for exceptional achievements to celebrate and promote research excellence across the Main Campus community. Each awardee will receive a small cash award and a certificate. The awards will be conferred at a reception hosted by the Provost, and awardees will be asked to briefly describe the work that formed the basis for the award. Each year, we expect to give a small number of awards.

Nominations

Nominations, including self-nominations, should be uploaded through the submission form by the deadline listed below. A complete nomination includes a brief letter of nomination (2 pages max), a current version of the candidate’s vita, and additional material sufficient to evaluate the significance of the accomplishment (e.g links to a website describing the award on which the nomination is based). The nomination letter can rely on the additional material to explain the significance of the accomplishment, but nominators should note that the selection committee is composed of faculty from many fields and thus the nomination letter should explain the significance of the scholarship and the award to a general audience.

Nominations will be accepted until September 23, 2026 through this form.

Eligibility

All full time main campus faculty are eligible for recognition.

Examples of potentially qualifying achievements:

We also encourage nominations that do not fit any of these examples, particularly to accommodate scholarship or creative activity in areas where traditional accolades are not given. It is expected that such achievements will be relatively recent (within the last three years).

Questions can be sent to viceprovostforresearch@georgetown.edu.
