Amani Morrison Publishes New Book with NYU Press
Assistant Professor Amani Morrison, English Department, published “A Kitchenette to Fit Your Needs: Housing Chicago’s Great Migration,” the first book-length study of Chicago’s Great Migration-era kitchenette apartment buildings, exploring how these once-innovative homes became notorious symbols of housing injustice on Chicago’s South and West Sides and examining how they were put to use toward different ends by Black migrants, landlords, artists, and the city’s institutions.
