Casey Brown Receives Grant from NIH to Study Dementia

Assistant Professor Casey Brown, Psychology Department, was awarded a National Institute on Aging R01 grant titled “Predicting Risk for Adverse Outcomes in Dementia Caregivers.” The multi-site study will track individuals with dementia, their primary caregivers (both spouses and adult children), and comparison pairs to identify predictors of caregiver health and well-being. The project will be among the first to examine how caregiving “spills over” to affect the health and relationships of the caregiver’s broader family network. Dr. Brown’s CARES Lab will use psychophysiological and dyadic observational methods to help identify modifiable targets for future family-centered interventions.
