LaMonda Horton-Stallings Named Charles A. Lindbergh Chair in Aeorospace History

Prof. LaMonda Horton-Stallings, of the Department of Black Studies, has been named the 2026-2027 Charles A. Lindbergh Chair in Aerospace History. This prestigious award allows year-long access to resources and archives at the National Air and Space Museum, as well as time to work on a major scholarly project. Stallings’s book project asks how our understanding of race, gender, sexuality, and humanness is shifting and will be impacted by contemporary space exploration. It will examine what exists at the intersection of humanities inquiries into gender and sexuality, space history, and space law: a wealth of untold stories about law breakers, new readings of difference, aesthetic experimentation in culture, literature, and science and technological innovation alongside social and political failures and shifting ethics around the humanities and science and technological innovation throughout the 20th and 21st century.
