Sky Sitney Selected for Membership in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Documentary Branch

Sky Sitney, Associate Professor of the Practice, Film and Media Studies, is among 529 artists and executives invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2026 as a voting member of its Documentary Branch.

Membership in the Academy is by invitation and recognizes individuals who have distinguished themselves through their contributions to the motion picture arts and sciences. Sitney’s invitation recognizes her longstanding contributions to documentary film as a festival director, curator, educator, and advocate for nonfiction cinema.
